Chef Publis wins Presidential award
The inaugural Presidential travel and tourism award ceremony was held at the Presidential Secretariat on January 28.
The ceremony saw Master Chef Dr. T. Publis Silva winning the award for 'Exceptional Individual 2007'. Master Chef Publis has been an integral part of Mount Lavinia Hotel for over half a century where he started as a kitchen help and worked his way up to his present position as Director Culinary Arts and Promotions.
Publis is a household name in Sri Lanka and well known for promoting Sri Lankan cuisine abroad for many years. He, on behalf of Mount Lavinia Hotel has held numerous Sri Lankan food promotions in over 25 different countries worldwide.
His lifelong desire is to standardize Sri Lankan food and bestow upon it worldwide respect and recognition.
He is at present in Singapore at the Goodwood Park Hotel doing what he does best- promoting Sri Lankan food.
He then goes on to Avari Hotel in Karachchi and then on to China for promotions in Beijing and Shanghai on behalf of the Mount Lavinia Hotel which celebrated 200 years of history in 2006. |
