Please save this tree

The Bo tree and below, now fenced in

In spite of protest from residents, nature lovers and religious leaders living down Jayasinghe road, off Balapokuna road, Kirulapone, it seems to be that this majestic Bo tree which is much loved and revered by all is to be felled to meet the demands of a property developer.

The tree which was saved by the vigilant residents has now been fenced in by the developer and the plight of this tree is in his hands, even though it stands within the road reservation.

This is a plea to the CMC and the Central Environmental Authority to save this tree and protect the environment for the generations to come and for the birds and other beings whose very existence depends to a large extent on the canopy provided by this endearing colossus of a tree.
