Sri Lankan entrepreneurs in both manufacturing and service sectors who have excelled are to be recognized and rewarded for their service of excellence by the Ceylon National Chamber of Industries (CNCI) with a view to promoting industrial growth. K. The Awards presentation ceremony will take place on July 16 at the Grand Ballroom, Hilton Hotel, Colombo.
This award ceremony which was launched by CNCI seven years ago to promote industrial growth in the country is unique not only among the chambers but also for Sri Lanka because it recognizes industrialists especially those who have excelled in the manufacturing sector in enhancing the quality standards, productivity, employee benefits, labour relations, adherence to statutory requirements, he said. CNCI extends this competition to the SAARC regional countries as well. Ratnarajah said that “The participation is open to any sole proprietorship, partnership or limited liability company engaged in a manufacturing or specified service industry for at least three consecutive financial years ending either March 31, 2006 or December 31, 2006 in Sri Lanka or in any Sri Lankan industry operating in a SAARC regional country”.
Rathnarajah also added that there will be special SAARC regional country awards presented to an outstanding industry / business, which has achieved industrial excellence as nominated by the respective chambers of each of the SAARC countries.
He said, another unique feature of this event is that it recognizes those industrialists who have ventured into SAARC area and set up industry of their own or have 50% or more shareholding in such enterprises.
