Bloomfield fall outright as Sanath goes for a duck

Right arm off spinner Sachitra Senanayake with a match bag of 10 for 81 which included a seven wicket haul in the second innings, steered SSC to their sixth outright victory helping the side to defeat Bloomfield by ten wickets in their Rupavahini Premier League cricket encounter concluded at the SSC ground yesterday.
Bloomfield resuming on their overnight score of 28 for 2 which included the prize wicket of Sanath Jayasuriya who lasted only six balls for a ‘duck’ fell into deep trouble losing three wickets within the space of ten overs which saw them struggling on 61 for 5.
A 72 run partnership for the sixth wicket between Yohan de Silva and Chinthaka Jayasinghe gave them some hope of recovering. The dismissals of Yohan and Chinthaka who made a fighting knock of 97 from 100 balls along with five boundaries and eight sixes.There was little batting left in the tail end of Bloomfield and with spinner Sachitra being a thorn, Bloomfield were unable to make much progress as they succumbed to 233 which left the home team just five runs for victory.
Earlier on the second days play opener Tharanga Paranavithana made a fine knock of 177 in 219 balls with 24 boundaries and a six which paved the way for SSC to make a formidable 367.

Tamil Union routed Badureliya SC by an innings and 104 runs with a day to spare at the P. Sara Stadium yesterday. Tamil Union resuming from their overnight score of 443 for 5 declared their innings on 463 for 8.
Badureliya SC batting the second time with a deficit of 337 runs was able to muster only 233 giving the home team a comfortable victory which was their third for the season.
