It seems that Thomian leg spinner Milan Fernando is gradually moving away from the rest of the pack at the end of the third count of The Sunday Times-Bata Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year All Island Contest.
At the end of this count, Fernando has moved 588 votes over his closest contender – Nalandian Ashan Priyanjana who once again has moved into the second place with 317 votes. Priyanjana has ousted Royalist Haroon Mawjood who was placed second at the end of the last count by a mere four votes at 313.
Ryan Kern of Wesley College also has moved up one slot at the end of this count at the expense of Isipatana’s Chirantha de Silva. However the biggest impact this week was shown by Josephian Dimuth Karunaratne who moved to eighth place after failing to secure a place among the first ten last week.
Another interesting feature this week is the keen contest between team-mates Malith Silva and Adel Niyaz of Gateway International. This time Niyaz had come within seven votes of Silva with both counting 328 and 321 respectively.
In the Outstation contest the status-quo remains with Tissa MMV’s Dinesh Chathuranga counting 200 votes and Dharmapala’s Thilina Athureliya finishing with 188 votes. |
