Funeral of scholar priest today

Very Rev. Msgr. Don Peter

The funeral of the Very Rev. Msgr. Don Peter who passed away on Thursday would be held in Colombo today. Very Rev. Msgr. W. L. A. Don Peter, son of late Don Nicholas Appuhamy and Maria Ambrosia Perera, was born in Kattuwa, Negombo, on 25th September 1916. In later years he resided at Kongodamulla. He was a brilliant educationist, was a Vicar General of the Archdiocese and served as the Rector of St. Joseph's College, Aquinas College, St. Aloysius' Seminary and St. John Vianney Seminary.

His mortal remains will be escorted from the Archbishop's House to St. Joseph's College in the morning and His Grace the Archbishop Most Rev. Dr. Oswald Gomis will preside at the Funeral Holy Mass at the Chapel of St. Joseph's College, at 3.00 p.m today. Thereafter he would be buried at the General Cemetery in Borella.
