Crackpot demonstration
Recently we had a hilarious situation in which the UNP invited the public to smash cooking pots on the road as a form of protest. Is this the act of a responsible political party?
What the UNP should have done was ask the public to sit on the road and cook water without rice. That would have conveyed a message.
I wonder who paid for all the pots that were so gleefully broken by the politicians? Certainly not the politicians, and it certainly did not look as if the politicians were breaking their own pots.
And why didn’t the top citizens bring their microwave ovens and refrigerators and smash these too in a show of protest?
We have a situation in which our so-called leaders cannot think constructively on how to demonstrate their displeasure. Is there any hope for Sri Lanka?
