Bharathanjali in Kandy

Bharathanjali 2008 - the annual dance and cultural programme of Bharatha Natya Dancing Academy, Kandy was held at the Hindu Cultural Centre in Kandy recently. Well known film personalities Somaratne Dissanayake, Renuka Balasuriya and Sanath Gunathilaka participated as Special Guests while a large number of students showcased their talents.

The Bharatha Natya Dancing Academy situated on George E. de Silva Mawatha was formed in 2002 with just five students, but today there are nearly 100 students studying Bharatha, up country dance styles and other folk dancing and music formats.

Skilled dancing instructress Sansala Silva serves as the director of the institute, which holds classes every Saturday from 9 am to 5 pm, for different age groups. The academy holds concerts featuring its students and the recent concert had more than colourful 25 items.
