Inspiring read for sacred season

This year’s Vesak Lipi Digest is published in memory of the most Venerable Heenetiyane Dhammaloka Thera, Mahanayake Thera.

The Buddhist digest, now in its 24th year, is an annual publication. Compiled and edited by Upali Salgado, the digest is designed as a bilingual Vesak gift for all those interested in Theravada Buddhism and Buddhist history.

The publication is funded with donations received from readers. Unused funds go towards the maintenance of a 15-bed ward (No 69) for kidney transplant patients at the Kandy General Hospital.

The 24th edition contains scholarly articles written by academics and other well-known writers on Buddhism, and is illustrated with the work of leading artist Kalasuri Jayasiri Semage.

The Buddha image depicted on the cover can be seen at the historic Ridee Vihara, in Kurunegale.
