‘Doo Kumariyo’, daily on Derana

‘Doo Kumariya’, a miniplay directed by Tikiri Ratnayake is the latest miniplay that is to be telecast daily on weekdays at 9 pm on Derana. Produced by Sama Ratnayake this over 200-episode miniplay revolves around the quarrels and struggles between two families of two different social status.

'Doo Kumariya' has a a young and upcoming cast including Saranga Disasekara, Buddhini Hansika, Anjula Rajapaksa along with other well-known TV stars like Gihan Fernando, Janak Premalal, Hansamala Janaki, Nilanthi Wijesinmghe, Rahal Bulathsinghala, Yamuna Erandathi, Susila Kottage, Sunil Premakumara, Sujeewa Dias, Tharindu Wijesinghe, Anurudhdhika Dilrukshi, Indika Prasanna and Chandrika Nimanthi.

Gilbert Jayabahu is a wealthy businessman and the miniplay starts as his son Rohan returns after completing his higher education abroad successfully. But on the instruction of his father, Rohan has to start his career as a clerk in the family business. Yet ambitious Mahesh, Rohan's brother-in-law holds a high post in the same company.

On the other hand Mayurapala is the head of a middle class family and he works as an accountant in a government institution. He is the sole breadwinner and his wife Nayana, an understanding woman, supports him. Subhashi and Hansika are their two daughters who are completely different from each other. While Subashi is playful and dreams of getting into wealthy high class society and she changes her boy friends regularly. On the contrary Hansika who realizes the financial struggles in the family is striving to find a job and helps the family. Working as a clerk in the company belonging to his own family, Rohan lives as an ordinary employee.

He one day meets Hansika on his way to work and gets interested in her simplicity. Hansika too starts liking him and does not see any wrong in falling for a young man who works as a clerk. Rohan thinks that Hansika would not believe him if he reveals his real identity and in fact she would think that he was lying.

Subashi who thinks that not only she but even her sister should find a man from rich and well-to-do family, opposes her affair with an ordinary clerk. She in fact gets Mayurapala and Nayana to oppose Hansika's affair. Mayurapala's family objects to the affair and the young couple have to face severe difficulties. However Mayurapala also loses his job and the family undergoes financial crisis. Rohan finds a job for him and his friend's office and he too secretly helps her financially.

Meanwhile Mahes schemes to get the ownership of Gilbert's business and he secretly starts his own business. He also proposes his own sister Santhusha to Rohan. Mahesh needs a manager under him and Rohan who comes to know it through his sister Suchi gets the vacancy for Hansika's jobless father, Mayurapala.

Now Rohan who was working under Mahesh becomes a subordinate of Mayurapala too. In turn Mayurapala who is unaware about Rohan's real identity starts harassing his intended son-in-law. And ‘Doo Kumaraiyo’ continues with many such interesting real life riddles among the members of two families.
