Couple and unborn infant die in road accident

A motorcyclist and his pregnant wife who was riding on the pillion succumbed to their injuries after an accident last night at Galadeiyawa, on the Gampola-Kandy road, police said. A Caesarean operation was performed on the wife, but doctors were unable to save the unborn infant.

According to initial reports, a lorry carrying cement bags had crashed into the motorcycle. The Gampola Police are conducting inquiries.
