Jetwing founder dies
Renowned entrepreneur Herbert Cooray died yesterday morning. He succumbed to a head injury following a fall in his home while getting dressed to leave for his office on Friday morning. He was 79.
The founder and chairman of Jetwing, he was a pioneer responsible for building Sri Lanka’s tourism industry. Prior to Jetwing, following in the footsteps of his father’s profession, he founded N. J. Cooray Builders, a leading construction firm in the 70s.
He was an old boy of St. Benedict’s College and St. Joseph’s College, Colombo and an Alumnus of the Universities of Peradeniya and Colombo.
He leaves his wife Josephine, their two children Shiromal and Hiran and their four grandsons.
The cortege will leave his residence 57/1, Ward Place, Colombo 7 at 9.30 a.m. tomorrow for burial at the General Cemetery Kanatte – R.C. Section. |
