Meet the Penwartha Apache bros!
Chief and Arrow winners among canines
By Tahnee Hopman
Chief and Arrow are two good looking brothers.
Arguably, these could be considered unusual names; in which case, readers should know the full names of these brothers. They are Penwartha Apache Chief and Penwartha Apache Arrow.
No, they are not Native American brothers. Chief and Arrow are two German Shepherds; two four-year-old German Shepherds that have both won prestigious awards. Arrow has won the 2008 Channel Island Dog of the Year while Chief bagged the Ceylon Kennel Club award for the Best Exhibit in Show in March this year.

Both were born in the Penwartha Apache kennels in Cornwall but while Chief was brought to Sri Lanka and is now owned by Chandra Holman, Arrow is owned by Bobby and Barbara Lawrence in Guernsey.
The two dogs are almost identical in appearance, and their owners are, understandably, extremely proud of them.
Ms. Chandra Holman, recalls getting Chief whom she calls Argus as two-month-old puppy. "Argus (Chief) took about two years to grow fully- German Shepherds are slow to mature- and now he is in his prime and looks absolutely gorgeous!" Every last bit of attention the dog could need is lavished upon him by his loving owner who finds him an excellent companion.
Ms. Lucille Dahanayake, Treasurer of the Ceylon Kennel Club, recaps the local competition, where Chief had impressed the judges. "Seeing such a beautiful dog in the spotlight was really great, and it added to our surprise and pleasure to hear that his brother Arrow has also won a prestigious award," she says.
