Let’s talk of real heroes
A careful study of the article titled “Death of Balraj and its implications” (The Sunday Times, May 25, 2008) revealed something alarming to this reader: that the constant repetition and reporting of terrorist activities – criminal acts designed to destabilize and divide this country – only result in making “heroes” of a band of people who are generally labelled as ruthless terrorists.
Few Sri Lankans, and most outsiders, consider LTTE terrorists to be “heroes”.
The general public is eagerly anticipating an end to this unnecessary and prolonged war, which has gone on for more than 25 years. We are patiently waiting for the beginning of peace in this country. It is therefore sad to read such articles in a newspaper that is read by educated people.
