Shashrika up with hectic ‘ton’ for NCC

A fine century by Shashrika Pussegolla inclusive of 13 boundaries and half tons from Hashan Goonethileke and Sandun Dias helped NCC to come out on top against Schools Under XI on day one of their Under 23 inter-club cricket encounter played at the NCC ground.

NCC taking first lease of the wicket ended the day making a mammoth 408 for 8 with Shashrika and Hasahan leading the way with third wicket partnership of 127 runs. The match will be continued at 9.30 a.m. today.

An unbeaten 114 with eight boundaries and three sixes by Milinda Siriwardena and a half ton by Romesh Buddhika enabled Chilaw Marians to make 338 for 9 against Tamil Union in their match played at the P. Sara Stadium. Milinda was associated in a 109 runs stand for the fifth wicket with Malith Gunathileke whose contribution was 47.
