The Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM) will be conducting an advanced management programme for company directors, for the benefit of members of the Sri Lanka Institute of Directors (SLID). The programme, according to a SLID press release, is designed for directors of companies particularly younger directors or those appointed recently, who wish to acquire new knowledge and skills for providing leadership to their company’s growth and development.

Participants will be eligible to receive the Advanced Certificate of Corporate Strategy and Management from PIM on the successful completion of the seven modules. The programme will commence on September 29 and will be conducted over a period of two months targeting directors, especially those who have become members of the Board of Directors of a company over the past 1-2 years.

A few of the areas that would be covered are -- key drivers of organizational performance and their inter-dependence; building capabilities to enhance and protect competitive advantage; best management practices: global and local illustrations; issues of strategic marketing and their nexus with corporate strategy; strategic HRM and the role of corporate directors, and financial analysis and investment decisions: keys to effectiveness.
