Rs. 592 spent on exams this year, Rs. 441 million for next year - Dy Education Minister

The Supplementary Estimate of Rs. 441 million for the Department of Exams, which falls under the Ministry of Education, was passed in parliament today.

Seeking the approval of the house, Deputy Minister of Education, Nirmala Kotalawala said that from the allocated amount of Rs. 692 million from the 2008 budget, a sum of Rs. 592 million has been spent on annual exams (O/L, A/L and grade five scholarship exams), evaluation processes and other competitive exams.

The deputy minister also said that the department also held exams for the Sri Lankan refugees settled in India which cost a considerable amount..
