Shreya Ghei of India wins the Sri Lanka Ladies title

Two qualifying rounds were played over the weekend to select the four best players to play match play for the Ladies Amateur title for 2008 and the following qualified to play match play: Shreya Ghei (India), Rasika, S. Selvaratnam and Niloo Jayatilake (all from Sri Lanka).

In the semi finals Shreya Ghei of India had an easy win over Rasika on the 12th hole and in the second semi finals Suwen Selvaratnam beat Niloo Jayatilake on the 17th hole after a hard fought match. In the finals 15 year old Shreya Ghei of India beat veteran golfer of Sri Lanka Suwen Selvaratnam on the 16th hole.

In the qualifying rounds the following challenge trophies were played for and were won by:

Leonard Peiris Cup (best gross 18 holes – 1st day) - Shreya Ghei (India)
Firestone Jepson Cup (best net 18 holes – 1st day) – S. Sandhya
Pin Fernando trophy (best nett over 36 holes) – Winner – S. Sanhya, Runner up – Niloo Jayatilake
Lilamini Weeraratne trophy (best gross over 36 holes) – Winner – Shreya Ghei, Runner up – S.Selvaratnam

F.B de Mel Challenge Cup (bronze division match play) – Winner – M. Jayakoday, Runner up - Fran De Mel
