On the orders of the Elections Commisioner, police yesterday began an operation to remove thousands of posters pasted on Colombo district walls by politicians contesting the Western Provincial Council elections. The police employed youth for the poster removing operation on funds provided by the Elections Department. The operation came after Elections Commissioner Dayananda Dissanayake asked the police why they were not removing the posters, despite Rs. 4.4 million being provided for the job.
