Chinthaka’s match winning spell of 4 for 19 in helped his side to defend a very modest score of 137 for 9 as they restricted their opponents to a mere 122 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs.

Earlier in the day MAS Holdings Kandurata skipper Kumar Sangakkara winning the toss invited opponents Lexmark Basnahira South to take first lease. It turned out to fruitful as their bowlers had the strong Basnahira batting line up in tatters.

The early breakthrough was given by pacie Thilina Thushara who grabbed the wicket of Dilruwan Perera with 20 on the board in the second over. Three more wickets within the next four overs saw Lexmark Basnahira South crash to 48 for 4 and in the halfway stage of the innings they were tottering on 57 for 5.
A 35 runs stand for the seventh wicket between Chamara Silva and Malinga Bandara saw them reach the 100 run mark before Chamara was dismissed for a well compiled 43.

Thereafter two run outs saw them slid again to 116 for 8 but Malinga continued to resist the MAS Holdings Kandurata bowlers and succeeding to accumulate valuable runs in the process. Malinga gathered ten runs in the last over to remain unbeaten on 31.MAS Holdings Kandurata in their run chase made their intentions clear with openers Tharanga Paranavithana and Kanchana Gunawardena giving them a sound start of 43. But the dismissal of the pair saw them fall back.

Apart from a 44 runs stand for the third wicket between skipper Sangakkara and Chamara Kapugedera the others failed to impress. Chinthaka Perera took two crucial wickets of Kapugedera and hard hitter Chinthaka Jayasinghe.

From there on Lexmark Basnahira South had things under control with Chinthaka getting support from the other bowlers, they combined well to restrict their opponents and also defend their low score of 137 for 9.
