As civilians were fleeing the LTTE-controlled area tragedy struck this family in the Nandikadal lagoon. The LTTE had fired at the civilians when Baskaran Sinthurani's husband received gunshot injuries. They managed to bring him to Vavuniya, but he succumbed to his injuries. Sinthurani and her three children are seen wailing near the coffin before the burial took place in Vavuniya.
