The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia, at Sarana Road, Colombo 7, became a temporary “polling station” last Thursday when more than 300 Indonesian nationals arrived to cast their vote for the Indonesian elections on April 9.
The Indonesian High Commissioner Djafar Husein was among those who cast their votes.
The embassy’s polling booth opened at 9 am and closed at 3 pm, and the votes were counted immediately after.
Sri Lanka has yet to establish a system that allows overseas-based Sri Lankan nationals to cast their vote during local elections.
