By Sinniah Gurunathan, Trincomalee correspondent

The Peace Dream Foundation and the Universal Peace Federation in association with the Sri Lanka Schools Football Association has decided to organize an Under 19 Inter School 7 A-side Football tournament among schools in the island.

The tournament will be played on 1st, 2nd and 3rd May, 2009 in Trincomalee. About ninety schools are expected to participate in the tournament. Entries to the tournament were closed on April 1st. All players would be accommodated in schools in Trincomalee. Maximum number of members per team should consist of 10 players and 2 officials. Food and traveling would be paid to all participating teams.

The tournament is conducted to harness the goodwill, friendship and understanding among the communities of Sri Lanka, according to Dr. Chula Senaratne, Secretary General of Inter Religious and International Federation for World Peace (IIFWP) in a letter to all principals of the schools. IIFWP is an NGO in Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations.
