Carl (Sonda) who was a well known journalist and sports editor at the Times of Ceylon migrated to Australia in the sixties and worked for a short times at the Motor Registration Branch during the period that Australia was moving from sterling currency to the Yankee equivalent before going back to his first love as a sports sub editor at the Herald Sun.
Ramsay Zieglaar succeeded him at the Times of Ceylon
Sonda was also associated with the late Donovan Andree in a consultative capacity and knew more about the sport of kings - horse racing - than most pundits.
He was a gentle man and honesty was his policy. May he rest in peace.
