The Sports Ministry is rather perturbed the recent developments which are developing within the SLC interim Committee.

It is learned that even Sri Lanka-New Zealand-India tri series TV rights awards also strode into a series of conflicts before settling to the agreed US $ 3.850 million figure that Ten Sports had on offer.

An irate employee of SLC speaking to the Sunday Times said “Just look at the news papers. During the past few days the goingons within SLC has been highlighted again and again and the issues also have been ranging wide.”

When asked Secretary Ministry of Sports S. Liyanagama he said “We have heard some disturbing news regarding the developments within the SLC interim committee and at the same time even the newspapers have been full of it during the past few days. We feel that within a frame work of nature they will find it very difficult make any headway in their future activities. So we are hoping to call the membership of the interim committee and have a chat with them on the current situation and find out if they are divided into factions and what sort of actions should be taken to resolve the conflicts. Right now most of the IC members are in Dambulla and we hope to meet them once the series matches move back to Colombo”.

SLC interim committee secretary Nishantha Ranatunga replying to this said “As far as I am concerned there are no factions within the SLC Interim Committee. We do have differences of opinion on various issues and we thrash them out and arrive at a common consensus. However I still have not heard about any Sports Ministry meeting or any interventions so far”.
