Royal makes it a triple in London

A team of former Royalists led by Dhanushka Perera went on to win the Ameresekere Challenge Shield at the 26th Annual Royal-Thomian Cricket Encounter dubbed the ‘Battle of the Blues UK’ at the John Lyon Cricket Grounds in Harrow on 25 July, winning the match by 26 runs.

Royal Batting first made 144 runs in 38 overs while the Thomians managed only 118 all out in 37 overs of batting with Kasun Ranabahu bagging 4 wickets and Sineth Withanage assisting well with a haul of 3 wickets.

In the over 40s match the Royal Veterans team went on to win the Warden de Alwis trophy for a fifth consecutive year which made it a unique Royal treble for Royal.

Thomian Veterans: 138 for 6 in 20 overs (Arjuna Narendra 43, Rajkumar 41, Gopi Kandiah 3 for 14)
Royal Veterans won by 32 runs.
