SriLankan Airlines boosts Italian sector

SriLankan Airlines will launch a new twice-weekly direct service from Milan to Colombo on December 16 to woo more Italian tourists to Sri Lanka and serve the sizable Sri Lankan community in northern Italy.
The new service will support Government efforts at encouraging Sri Lankan expatriates to visit their country following the dawn of peace, the airlines said.

It said the new service will also serve travellers in neighbouring regions such as southern France and southern Switzerland.

“SriLankan Airlines firmly believes that its responsibilities as the National Carrier are of paramount importance, and we are launching this service after considering the requests of the Sri Lankan community in the region, and carefully studying the tourism potential as well,” SriLankan chairman Nishanta Wickremasinghe said.
