CEAT awards on Oct. 30

By Shanaka Jayawardana

The first CEAT Sri Lanka Awards presentation will take place at Waters Edge on 30 October. Top tyre brand CEAT, a pioneer in evaluating and honouring cricketing greats on the international stage, in collaboration with Sri Lanka Cricket and the Players Association will acknowledge cricketers and performances at various levels in the domestic calendar and the international circuit.

More than 100 awards are to be presented to cricketers from the Under 23 divisions, women’s divisions, Premier League Tiers A & B, Premier League Limited Over and the Sara League tournaments.

And at the international level, the best batting and bowling performances in tests and one day internationals, the debutant/emerging player of the year, best international woman cricketer of the year and the best junior player of the year are to be honoured at this event.

It is also pleasing to note that at least two Special Achievement awards and a Lifetime Achievement award are to be presented for truly exemplary performances and service to the game.

The highlight of the night will be the announcement of the CEAT people’s player of the Year, an award that will be presented to the international player who receives the most votes from the public via SMS.
