Glamorous display of talents by Sujatha Girls …

In this era of total child development care, the school takes pride of place. It is through the school curriculum system that every type of syllabus - organized, spontaneous and invisible - is implemented.

For any programme to succeed and be productive in the school environment, the cooperation between the Principal, Teachers and the Officials of the Educational sector is an absolute necessity. It is this exemplary joining of hands only that will help produce the fruits of success in the school system that includes both the Government as well as Private sector seats of learning.

A child's educational development process is set in motion within a space of five days of a week through a timetable that has encompassed relevant subjects with educational worth. Within this environment prevails the invisible opportunities to learn the good habits of; keeping the school premises clean and attractive, observance of religious precepts every morning in order to commence school activities, maintenance of decorum and discipline whilst even changing from one classroom to another (walking orderly one after the other).

All these factors help mould a decent, dignified and positive-minded child.
From the spheres of the school's annual sports meet and other sports-based activities, the opportunities to spontaneously acquire vital skills and habits, which have to be learnt from outside of the normal syllabus, are available in plenty. These activities present immense opportunities that help mould the personality of well-rounded students.

Started in 1965, Sujatha Vidyalaya is an acclaimed school today in Nugegoda. Our students, enthused with bubbling creativity, display their talents on stage every other year through a lively variety presentation titled "Nipuna Prathibha" Our students make good use of this talent show to bring out their creative talents, which in reality provides them with an ideal opportunity to acquire creative skills outside of the normally confined classroom environment.

These activities we promote with enthusiasm as they too help develop a well-balanced personality in a student. Therefore, we always endeavour to get the maximum number of student participation in this "Nipuna Prathibha" creative display. It is a universally accepted fact further propagated by the renowned psychologists, that the classroom-based education alone cannot mould a worthy student. Hence, through the staging of "Nipuna Prathibha" we envision that positive characteristics such as team work, socializing ability, leadership-skills and respecting authority, patience, endurance, time-management and planning etc could be garnered along the way.

It is precisely with this intention that maximum numbers of students beginning from Grade One itself and going right up to the Grade 13, that we encouraged through sheer dedication and commitment of all our teachers, to come on the glamorous "Nipuna Prathibha" stage on October 10 2009.

Therefore, it was indeed heartening for our students to perform in front of an appreciative and well-attended audience comprising of Professor Sanath Nandasiri as Chief Guest and his good wife, at the BMICH.

Principal Malani Abeysekera Dissanayake.
