Two shot at near nightclub in Thimbirigasyaya

Two men sustained gunshot injuries while they were returning to their car from a night club in Thimbirigasyaya early yesterday morning, Police said.

According to police, the incident took place near the Eureka night club in Thimbirigasyaya road, Narahenpita when some armed men had shot at the two men who were walking towards their car at around 3 a.m. last morning.

The two men who are residents of Gothatuwa were rushed to the Colombo National Hospital as they were critically injured.

According to statements given by the Eureka club staff to the Narahenpita police conducting preliminary investigations, the duo had walked into the club at around 1.30 a.m. The two were said to have been frequent visitors to the club according to the staff members who had given statements.

According to the Narahenpita police, at the time of the shooting there were no eyewitnesses. However some of the club staff had rushed to the scene as they heard multiple gunshots. The motive for the shooting is yet unknown.
