Indian caught with contraband

An Indian national who arrived at Katunayake Airport yesterday on Flight S2541 from Chennai was detected carrying undeclared jewellery worth Rs. 3 million.

The goods were seized by Katunayake Airport Customs chief, M. Piyasena.The passenger was preparing to make his exit through the Nothing To Declare gate when he was stopped by Customs officers, who found that one piece of the passenger’s baggage had a false bottom, hiding gold earrings, pendants, chains and other jewellery.
