ICASL Celebrates Golden Jubilee

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (ICASL) celebrated their Golden Jubilee recently at a ceremony held at the BMICH under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

The event was attended by nearly 1,500 members of the profession and several other dignitaries from the public and private sector, ICASL said in a press release.

The event also featured the release of a first day cover and stamp, launching of publications Public Sector Accounting Standards, Sri Lanka Auditing Standards and the Golden Jubilee Journal. Institute President Nishan Fernando traced the history of 50 years paying a tribute to the founders and the many strides taken thereafter to reach the present high standards.

President Rajapaksa praised the Institute for its impressive record and complimented its bold approach in reaching students in provinces and in particular for pioneering teaching accountancy in the Sinhala/Tamil medium, the press release said.
