Title for Aruna and Chammika

Aruna Seneviratne (ATK) and Chammika De Silva annexed the over 45 Men’s Doubles title at the Mercantile Tennis Tournament 2009 worked off at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association Courts yesterday.
Seneviratne and De Silva beat Niroshana Jayasundera (LHB) and Irshad Othman (AMN) 7-5, 6-1. Aasiri Iddmalgoda made it to the final in the Men’s Singles Division One event. Iddmalgoda won the first at 6-3 with the second set level at one game a piece Iddamalgoda’s opponent Kushal Wijewickrema had to retire.

In other matches Trinesh Fernando (DLG) beat Shehan Ferdinandis (MAS) 6-4, 6-1 in the Men’s Singles Division 3 Event. In the same event Faizal Rahman (AMN) advanced to the next round.

In the Men’s Doubles Over 55 event, Dayan Madawala (Fin) and Silva Lalith (FRP) fought off a stiff challenge from Sarath Jayathilake (GTC) and Angelo Patrick (CMA) to win at 6-4, 7-5.

The Men’s Doubles Seneviratne (ATK) and Sasith Wickremaisnghe (AHL) bt Naveen De Silva and Kusum Wijethilake (DFCC) 6-0, 6-2 while Iddamalgoda and Hiran Perera (HSBC) got a walk over
In another match of the Men’s Singles Division One, Sohan Patrick (MAS) received a walk over and advanced to the semi final. The contest ends on Tuesday.
