Squash title for Samarasinghe

Naveen Samarasinghe became the men’s open champion in the Sunquick Open Squash Championships worked off at the Gymkhana Club Squash Courts yesterday.

In the final Samarasinghe overcame Saman Thillakarathna. The score line read 11-7, 11-6 and 11-6.
Sharya Guruge clinched the women’s open title when she scored a 11-7, 11-3,11-4 win over Sherangi Wijekulasuriya in the final.

In the under 11 section the boys title went to Lakshan Navodaya who overcame Mohamed Hakeem 11-6, 11-7 and 11-9. Saduni Gunawardena beat Kasuni Gunawardena 11-6, 11-9 and 11-5 to win the girls trophy.

K.Viduranga Udantha beat Rashandra Rajarahna 6-11, 11-5, 11-8 and 11-6 in the boys under 13 final. In the girls under 13 final K.A.M.Methsarani beat Fathoum Issadeen 11-6, 11-6 and 11-9.

In the boys under 15 final H.R.H.Laksiri beat Udantha Hewage 11-3, 11-4 and 11-2. In the girls final Naduni Gunawardena beat K.A.M.Methsarani 11-6, 11-3 and 11-6.

Gayara Jayasuriya beat Dulakshi Elikawela 11-5, 11-6 and 11-9 in the under 17 girls final. In the Boys under 17 final Yasoun Weerasooriya beat H.R.H.Laksiri 8-11, 10-12, 11-9, 11-3 and 11-4.

In the under 19 girls final Sharya Guruge beat Gayara Jayasuriya 11-7, 11-1 and 11-1,In the boys under 19 final Gihan Suwairs beat Binura Jayasuriya 11-9, 11-9, 11-13 and 11-3.

The Senior National Squash championships will commence on Dec.23 at the Gymkhana Club(CCC) Squash courts.
