President has proved a worthy guardian of a vulnerable nation

Sri Lanka is in a fragile, vulnerable state following the long and draining war against terrorism. We are still open to attack, and we have to be protected from threats. Our President has worked hard to bring peace to this country, and he is on his way to bringing prosperity to the country. Sri Lankans should vote wisely at the upcoming election.

Mahinda Rajapaksa is well qualified to be re-elected as President of Sri Lanka. The country needs a strong leader like him. He is reuniting a fragmented Sri Lanka and establishing peace across a war-torn land. His strong leadership saved Sri Lanka from the evil grip of the LTTE.

Ever since entering office, President Rajapaksa has worked tirelessly for the nation. To end the war, he had to resist tremendous international pressure. He has initiated a great many projects for the country’s betterment. He has given educational opportunities for all citizens, including the poor people living in the villages. He has created projects to help the poor.

Recently, President Rajapaksa inaugurated the construction of the Hambantota International Airport, which will support the fast-growing coastal areas. The airport will boost tourism in the Southern province and help the local people.

The President has proposed an extension of the rail link from Matara to Kataragama, to be built over the next two years. The President has demonstrated his concern and support for everyone, from the rural people to the affluent upper-class. President Rajapaksa said: “The challenge before me is to ensure the development of our motherland to secure a better future for present and future generations.”
