Exciting football from Jan 9

Exciting football is on the cards when the City Football League Division One Invitation knock-out tournament for 2009/2010 gets underway on January 9.

The draw for the contest took place and 12 leading clubs have entered the competition. The opening match will be between Young Silver SC and Maligawatte Youth SC at the City League Grounds.

The participating teams are: Young Silver, Blue Star, Cooray, Saunders, Maligawatte Youth, Sarasavi, Premier, New Youngs, Renown, Java Lane, Old Bens and Ratnam.

The quarter-finals will be worked off from January 23 onwards and the semi-finals are scheduled for February 6 and 7 with the final scheduled for March 11. All matches will be worked off at the City League grounds.
