Pathway to qualify in Tourism and Hotel Management

Travel, tourism and hospitality services are reckoned to be one of the world's largest industries now and achieving an appropriate qualification related to this sector will therefore assure you a successful career in the said industry.

Confederation of Tourism & Hospitality (CTH), the world's leading specialist in tourism and hospitality examination authority has accredited colleges and training centres globally and Pathe Academy is its Regional GAS Representative in Sri Lanka. The CTH programmes were made available in Sri Lanka since December, 2008 with the signing of the representation agreements between Mr. Simon Cleaver, Chairman, CTH and Dr. Sanjayadeve Munasinghe, Chairman, Pathe Academy. Since then PATHE Academy has been conducting CTH programmes in Sri Lanka.

Pathe Academy also guarantees you direct admission to the 2nd and 3rd year at West London College with a further year of study leading to an Honours Degree in Hotel Management, awarded by the Bournemouth University in UK.

Some of the CTH programmes are as follows:
Undergraduate level programmes:
Route 1 - Tourism Management. Designed to prepare students for careers in all aspects of this vast industry, from commercial tour operations to governmental overview of national tourism activity.
Route 2 - Hotel Management. Designed to prepare students for careers in Hotel Management, from small family run operations to major international groups.

Diploma in Hotel Management
The Diploma in Hotel Management programme has been devised on the basis that students will attend a course of study of not less than 450 hours. Private study will be required over and above this figure. Each of the modules has a two and a half hour examination, set and marked by CTH.

Advanced Diploma in Hotel Management
The Advanced Diploma in Hotel Management aims to provide an understanding of the managerial, decision making and leadership aspects of the international hotel industry.
The scheme has been devised on the basis that students will attend a course of study of not less than 450 contact hours. All assessments are marked by CTH.

Diploma in Tourism Management
The Diploma in Tourism Management aims to provide students with a broad understanding of the operational aspects of the international tourism industry, together with a knowledge of the basic principles which underpin the industry. Each of the 10 modules has a two and a half hour examination, set and marked by CTH.

Advanced Diploma in Tourism Management
The Advanced Diploma in Tourism Management is designed to develop the independent research skills which will be required when working as a senior manager in the industry. The scheme has been devised on the basis that students will attend a course of study of not less than 450 contact hours. All assessments are marked by CTH.

The CTH Diploma and Advanced Diploma offer equivalency to the first and second year of a British University Degree. Graduates of these programmes typically aspire to trainee management roles or direct entry to the final stages of a University Bachelor's degree.
