Ananda down Nalanda at badminton

The Ananda College Under 15 badminton team emerged Super A Division champions at the Inter-School Badminton Championships (Doubles) held at the Welagedera Indoor Badminton Stadium at Kurunegala.

In the final Ananda beat Nalanda 3-1 after overcoming Dharmasoka Ambalangoda 3-1 in the semis. In the Group matches Ananda beat Royal 3-1 and Dharmaraja Kandy 3-0. This is the first time that Ananda and Nalanda clashed in the finals in the Super A category in badminton.

The U 15 Badminton Team of Ananda College comprised of : Ovin Ratnasekara (Captain), Pasindu Ambegoda ( V. captain), Yehan Munasingha, Dakshitha Gunathilake, Pulina Amarasekara, Dulshan Alahakoon, Helitha Hewagama, Devin Wickramasingha, Shanaka Ratnesekara, Maduka Dulanjana, Thevin Jayasekara, Tharindu Warankulasuriya. The officials of the team were: Mr. Ranjith Payagla Master In Charge, Mr. K S Pupakumara Chief Badminton coach and Mr. Danuska Asst Badminton coach.
