Share a slice of Scottish life at St. Andrew’s Ball

The annual “St. Andrew’s Ball” at the end of November every year has become a fixture in the Colombo social calendar.

This year, the St. Andrew’s Ball will be hosted by the Caledonian (“Caledonia” being an ancient name for Scotland) Society of Sri Lanka in the Grand Ballroom of the Galadari Hotel, Colombo, on Friday, November 26. It will offer guests the opportunity to experience a huge slice of Scottish life, culture and tradition in lots of tartan; great bagpipe music, provided by the Dollar Academy Pipe Band, currently the World Juvenile Champions; the best of Scottish food including genuine haggis, oatcakes and shortbread; an almost endless supply of whisky (- yes, yet another great Scottish “tradition”) and other refreshments, Country and Highland dancing, Scottish poems and songs and much, much more.

More information is available from the Chieftain John, tel. 2386774; Secretary Fiona, tel. 2598502; Treasurer Nisha, tel. 2868288 or 2866703. And be assured of a hundred, thousand welcomes. It’s a tradition!
