Parents/Students…do you know what you are getting?

This is an open notice to students as well as parents, who would be spending their hard earned money for their childrens’ higher education. We wish to draw your attention to a few points that you need to verify before you decide on your childs’ future.

Imperial Institute of Higher Education (IIHE) is the oldest institution in Sri Lanka offering BSc (Hon) Business Management & Software Engineering since 1996.
IIHE has set the record for having the longest association with a parent University, which goes back to the same time frame, with the prestigious University of Wales, UK.

Degree Award:
IIHE is possibly the only institute in Sri Lanka where from day 1 onwards students come under the direct purview of the degree awarding University. Hence the students are subjected to vertical & horizontal integration of the entire course from year 1. This contributes towards the maturing process of a student & the acquisition of a holistic knowledge.

H.E The President of our country has a vision of making Sri Lanka the “Knowledge Hub of Asia”. In order for this to realize, we need to build a future based on knowledge acquisition rather than taking short cuts. Hence it is extremely important that students & systems conform to one standard & regulation from enrollment onwards.

Most other institutes where undergraduate programmes are offered, during year 1 & 2 students are enrolled onto a franchise bodys’ (a 3rd party institution) purview. Therefore students are not subjected to the identical programme structures & quality assurance mechanisms of the degree awarding University until the final year.

Many students are misled by the popularity of the institute rather than what they actually offer.

Association with parent University:
It is of high importance that the local institute has a direct association with the parent/degree awarding University. If not the degrees awarded lack the similarity of quality & respect a student in the principal country receives.

IIHE is associated DIRECTLY with University of Wales. There is no 3rd party franchise body in between. Hence, all quality systems, academia & certificate are issued ONLY from UoW. Students, from enrollment to graduation are under the purview of UoW.

All our faculty members are appointed & assessed by UoW.
BSc (Hon) vs BA (Hon):

A BSc will focus strictly on the subject matter. i.e – if it is management, all subjects will ensure that the entire width & breath of the management discipline. A BSc will not focus non-related subjects such as Geography, History, etc.

A BSc will have vertical (from stage to stage) & horizontal (relationship of one subject to the other, i.e- Marketing to Economics) integration throughout.
There are neither multiple entry points nor exit points in a properly structured BSc degree path.
Entry requirements:

Any University programme requires a basic pre-qualification of 2 A-level passes.
In today’s context some institutions lure parents to enroll their children into University foundation programmes even though these students may have sufficient pre-qualifications.
Do not be misled & spend an additional Rs. 800,000/- to 1,000,000/- when your child can directly admit to year 1 of a degree programme.

Fees:
At IIHE we believe in complete transparency with regards to the payments. Hence the entire fee schedule is disclosed to the students & their parents up front. There are no hidden charges beyond this schedule.
Most importantly, the fees applicable at the point of registration will stand constant till the student graduates. We will not revise any fees of students after enrollment.

The Institution:
IIHE is one of the oldest private tertiary education institutions in the country. We have been awarding BSc (Hon) Business Management & BSc (Hon) Software Engineering from University of Wales since 1996.
Our Management consists of highly educated, dynamic & professional teams with an unblemished track record in the industry, which will guide you & assist you to earn our world class degrees.

The above are some of the key points which you should be looking at when selecting a good University course for your child. If you need further clarifications & more information, please do not hesitate to contact us on 077 222 66 66 or visit our website on www.iihe.lk.
