Hope springs eternal in the human mind

I thought I must write and congratulate you when I heard you have been selected for the national cricket team once again to play against England-and that too just a few days short of your forty second birthday! This process had, of course, accelerated with astonishing speed during the past three years.

The Government’s decision to commemorate the killing of 600 unarmed policemen by the LTTE with two minutes silence at all police stations has not been welcomed by everyone.
