Yala to connect with Kumana

The government is to construct a motorable road across the Yala National Park connecting the Kumana bird sanctuary enabling visitors to travel to all parts of the park, Wild Life Department Director General Chandrawansa Pathiraja said.

He said that one of the reasons for the construction of the road would be to prevent congestion in Zone One in the park. He said that accordingly all four zones in the Yala National Park will be open to the public enabling visitors to proceed to the Kumana sanctuary.

Currently visitors are allowed only to Zone One of the Yala National Park while access to the Kumana sanctuary is only from the Eastern Province. He said that the work on the road will commence shortly.
