Tourists increase by 19.9% in June

Tourists have increased their numbers during the off-peak season with June witnessing a 19.9% boom over the same period last year. Incidentally UK was down by 17.2% compared to 2010 when figures of tourist arrivals were at 6,262 compared to 5,188 this year. On the other hand Germany and France had seen arrivals surging by 31.5% and 36.3%, respectively, according to Sri Lanka Tourism figures.

India continued to dominate the inbound market with 12,927 which is an increase of 22.1% compared to June 2010. China recorded an increase of 1,132 which is 33.5% over the previous year.
