CIMA Toastmasters' Club does it again!!! First Quiz for Toastmasters of Sri Lanka

CIMA Toastmasters undertook the initiative to launch the first ever Quiz among the toastmasters of Sri Lanka which was held on June 11 2011 at the Water's Edge with the participation of approximately 140 toastmasters.

The quiz comprised of 6 rounds; News and Current affairs, Sports, History Literature and Arts, Entertainment, General Knowledge, and a special technical round on Toastmastering. Each round was followed by a 'fun quiz' where the winner was awarded with delicious cupcakes from 'Trickles"
The 21 teams that competed for the honours comprised of a mix of Corporate Clubs and Community Clubs. The winning team of the Toastmasters' Quiz for 2011 was Hatton National Bank Toastmasters' Club. Colombo Toastmasters' Club, the oldest toastmasters club in Sri Lanka was the 1st runner up. Serendib Toastmasters' Club emerged as the 2nd runner up.

Colombo Toastmasters' Club, Smedley Toastmasters' Club, Millennium Toastmasters' Club and Ralph Toastmasters' Club emerged as joint winners of the Toastmastering Round.

M Z Saleem, DTM, Lieutenant Governor Education and Training for District 82 was the Chief Guest. Kapila Bandara, CTM, CL, Governor for Division A, and Yusuf Jeevanjee, CTM, Governor for Area A2 were the special invitees. The Quiz Master was Mr. Arun Dias Bandaranaike. CIMA Sri Lanka Division partnered the event as the Strategic Partner while Standard Chartered Bank, Etisalat and LOLC Leisure were Associate Sponsors.

Zarah Juriansz the Vice President Education of the CIMA Toastmasters' Club in her welcome address stated that the committee conceptualized the Toastmasters' Quiz as an attempt of organizing a forum to bring together the toastmasters in the country to an environment of learning, team spirit and fellowship.
CIMA Toastmasters' Club meets on every 2nd and 4th Wednesday at 5.45 PM at the CIMA Sri Lanka Division Auditorium exclusively for CIMA members, passed finalists and final level students. The meetings are conducted in a friendly atmosphere that provides a perfect setting to improve communication skills and learn the art of public speaking.
