Smedley Toastmasters' Club had their 8th installation ceremony on August 5 at Hotel Ramada, Colombo. Deshmanya Dr. Kishu Gomes , CEO/ MD Chevron Lubricants Lanka PLC was the chief guest at the ceremony who emphasized on the importance of improving the effective communication skills for a successful career in today's fiercely competitive environment.

"Toastmasters Club like Smedley will undoubtedly fulfil this requirement." He added. Outgoing president Ms. Sabirah Caffoor addressing the gathering rejoiced the achievements of Smedley last year, Smedley being a President's Distinguished Club achieved the Golden Gavel award for the second consecutive year. Incoming President Mr. T. Sayandhan taking over office urged all members to be focused on their individual goals and objectives which invariably contribute towards taking Smedley to greater heights on its continuous journey of success.

The newly elected executive committee pledged their fullest cooperation in making every member an effective communicator and an efficient leader for Smedley to "Achieve Greatness Together" during the year 2011/12
