Year-old Island Leisure aims to be top 10 SL inbound tour operator by 2017

A Sri Lankan sports tours venture, Island Leisure Lanka (Pvt) Ltd., announced recently that its first year in operation had resulted in 2,500 customers. And, according to the company's Managing Director, Channa Amaradasa, a hotelier and a consultant and lecturer in tourism, the company's goal is "to be within the top 10 inbound operators in Sri Lanka in six years." In a statement by the company, he also alluded to the need for "quality staff in tourism" which he said would help the industry become more "sustainable."
Additionally stated, Island Leisure has a "concentration on sports tourism [and] offers adventure, golf and cricket tour packages with a lot of variation and innovation."

The company's statement also noted; "As an active sportsman and with immense contributions to sporting bodies of Sri Lanka, Mr. Amaradasa brings a wealth of experience into sports tour operations. Especially when it comes to cricket tours, the company offers packages for both professional and fun cricketer. They even handle the national cricket teams with professional coaching camps with consultant coaches and all necessary requirements. Leading cricketing institutions in the world [have] trusted Island Leisure as their professional organisers in Sri Lanka. As for fun cricket tours ground.

Meanwhile, again according to Mr. Amaradasa; "While moving ahead with our usual itineraries on culture and heritage Island Leisure seek every opportunity to be innovative and creative in designing a tour package." He also added that the "reason for our presence in the trade is simply because we love it. And we as a team believe in innovative tourism products which need to be promoted in the global market."
