‘Force’ a tale of an unusual cop

‘Force’, latest Bollywood romantic action movie starring John Abraham and Genelia DSouza will be screened at Liberty Lite cinema, Colombo.

Directed by the critically acclaimed, Filmfare and National Award winnner Nishikant Kamat ‘Force’ is a contemporary action romance and a Hindi reinterpretation of the Tamil blockbuster, ‘Kaakha Kaakha’, which achieved widespread popularity among audiences and critics alike. ‘Force’ is produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah who previously brought cinemagoers screen gems such as ‘Aakhen’, ‘Singh is Kinng’ and ‘Namastey London’.

At the heart of the action-love story is a renegade cop, played by John Abraham, in the relentless pursuit of a ruthless, underworld gangster. He believes that the only way to eradicate crime is to give criminals the bullet – not hand cuffs. Sharing screen space with John is one of the most vivacious and exuberant talents, Genelia D’Souza , who plays John’s love interest. The seat-grabbing suspense is perfectly balanced with passionate romance and a melodious soundtrack, masterfully composed by one of the leading Indian music composers, Harris Jayaraj.

Yashvardhan (John Abraham) is a hard-headed senior narcotics officer who doesn’t play by the book but always ensures that justice is served. He believes that the only way to eradicate crime is to give criminals the bullet - not hand cuffs. In the midst of his most dangerous and significant operation to crack down on India’s drug cartels, ashvardhan encounters a ruthless enemy who will stop at nothing until he gets his revenge for the damage done to his business by the narcotics team.

He also meets the free-spirited Maya (Genelia), whose love pushes him to make a choice between the life he already knows and the life he could have with her. Yashvardhan’s decision to let happiness and normalcy into his life changes his life forever.

Speaking on the movie filmmaker Nishikant says “This is a different offering from me altogether. John is ready to amaze his audience with his eight pack abs. He has been dedicated to the cause and it was a pleasure working with him’.

During the filming, John Abraham stated that ‘With Nishikant I have discovered the magic of raw action, but what is even more beautiful is the romance in ‘Force’. This I believe will be my first pan India film after a long gap.”

One of the most difficult scenes in the film required John to jump from a cliff 150 feet high, on to an air bag. No cables would be used because Amin wanted raw action in his film. After expressing his idea, he said that “John was not nervous at all. He simply said, “just say action, I will do anything you say.” Another scene required him to lift up a bike and throw it. Allan suggested the use of cables, but John refused. In the scene, John went on to lift a bike that weighed 200 kilos, and fling it in the air.

The film also created controversy over a scene where John and Genelia had to tie the knot. The ceremony conducted was so authentic that had they completed the last round they would have actually been man and wife. A CEL release, ‘Force’ is imported by Aaiswariya Films.
