New strategies, nationwide ICT development boost PCH earnings

Sri Lankan computer maker PC House PLC has reported a 25% increase in turnover to Rs. 1,956 million for the first six months ending September 2011 compared to Rs. 1,566 million in the corresponding period last year, the company said.

Net earnings of Rs 105 million in the 6-month period was up 16 % compared to Rs 90 million earlier. This growth is indicative of the new strategies implemented by the group during the current year, the statement added. During the last two quarters, the group opened five new branches across the island and upgrading of the Kandy branch to a PCH 9am-to-9pm store. This showroom brings a new era of convenience in IT retail to residents of the hill capital boasting over 3000 world renowned brands, all under one roof. These branches added to the group’s turnover and brought the total number of PCH Branches, island-wide, to 38.

“The group’s BOI approved subsidiary Procifinity Ltd, set up for the purpose of catering to the outsourcing requirements of local and overseas-based enterprises also added to the group turnover. Apart from their BPO service offerings like their Digitization, and Contact Centre solutions, the company now offer KPO solutions, from Finance and accounting to Marketing Services,” the statement added.

"We worked diligently to improve sales and profitability in the past year in a way that generated sustained customer preference and shareholder value. We are also building momentum for 2012 behind our longer-term commitment to deliver even better customer experiences,” said S.H.M. Rishan, Chairman of PCH.

Meanwhile the company, PC House PLC increased turnover by 33 % to Rs. 1.9 billion in the review period. The net profit of PC House PLC increased by 47 % to Rs. 115 million. “This aggressive performance is a result of the numerous projects won in the private and public sectors for the supply of ICT products throughout the island due to the demand created in line with the technological development taking place.

PCH also entered the competitive mobile market space with partnering one of India’s fastest growing mobile phone brands, Karbonn. Given its island-wide reach via an unmatched distribution network, the Karbonn phone has penetrated the market capturing sizable market share of the consumer market,” it said.
