The University of Bolton: a new university in a great location.
The University of Bolton is in the North West of England approximately 15 minutes from Manchester.
Although a new university (since 2005), teaching has taken place on campus since 1824 when we were known as Bolton Mechanics Institute. The campus and University have come a long way since then, with Bolton being one of Britain’s fastest growing universities.
The University is undergoing a major redevelopment programme to create new and exciting facilities for our students, for study and recreation. In September 2008 our new multi-million pound Social Learning Zone and Students’ Union facilities were opened right in the centre of campus and our flagship development, a £32 million swimming pool, health and academic complex called Bolton One is on schedule for a February 2012 opening.
Fine art, engineering and textile laboratories and special effects are housed in the new Innovation Factory, which also offers consultancy services to companies looking for design ideas.
Bolton enjoys strong links with companies such as Reebok, Alfred McAlpine and Network Rail, while courses are accredited by more than 30 professional bodies including the British Computer Society, the Law Society and the British Psychological Society.
