Cricket in a swimming pool!

A swimming pool was declared open on July 9, 2009 at the Piliyandala Central College by President Mahinda Rajapaksa when the Sports Minister was Mr. Gamini Lokuge. Piliyandala Central was then declared as the first National Sports School and the swimmin pool was to play an integral role.

However nothing happened to it and presently the pool is used by schoolboys to play cricket. Officials are of the opinion that it would have been better to let the premises as it was as a lot of pain had gone into the construction of the pool. Our cameraman Ranjith Perera was there to click the action. It is reported that funds for this pool has been spent by the Sports Ministry.
